Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge - Feature Image

Samsung just announced its latest flagship S25 series, both in India and globally. While everyone had their eyes on whether Samsung would launch the S25 Slim at the Galaxy Unpacked January 2025 Event, no one imagined that there wouldn’t be a Slim model but rather an Edge model. Samsung showcased the S25 Edge, which essentially replaces the Slim model, during the event.

Those who saw the images floating all over the internet were quite surprised, as the design was nothing like what OnLeaks had shared in his leak. Even the name turned out to be different. But that’s not all, Samsung’s addition of the Edge variant to its S25 series introduces a design that differs from the rest of the smartphones in the lineup.

When I first saw the image of it, I felt like I had seen it somewhere before. And then it hit me, it looks strikingly similar to the Oppo K12x (China), AKA the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. If you look at the comparison below, the Galaxy S25 Edge is on the left, and the Nord CE 4 Lite is on the right. While the S25 Edge has a single flash, the Nord CE 4 Lite features a dual-flash setup. Both smartphones sport a rear dual-camera layout neatly placed in a pill-shaped deco.

The silver colour of the S25 Edge also seems reminiscent of the Nord CE 4 Lite. Although Samsung briefly showcased the device at the Unpacked event, not much detail was revealed. However, an earlier Geekbench listing revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset would power it. Interestingly, that listing showed the device’s underpowered multicore performance for some reason.
It’s worth noting that the “Edge” naming in the moniker is likely intended to highlight the smartphone’s slim design. Additionally, it marks the brand’s return to using “Edge” in its product names—the last being the 2016-released Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

As of now, Samsung has not revealed further details, such as the launch date or full specifications. But an earlier leak had revealed it may launch in May of this year. Additionally, WHYLAB shared some key specs of this smartphone: a 6.7″ straight display screen, a 3900 mAh battery backup, a 200MP (main) + 50MP (ultra-wide) dual-camera unit, and 6.4 mm thickness.

I know some may not like this comparison, So, who else agrees with me that it looks like the Nord CE 4 Lite?

Samsung, the South Korean tech maker, recently unveiled its latest Galaxy S25 series flagship devices with the Android 15 based One UI 7 custom skin onboard, however, as per recent updates, the official version for other previous Galaxy smartphone models are said to be delayed and will likely only be rolled out by the end of next month onwards. Amidst this, a new One UI 7 build has been uploaded on the brand’s official server for last year’s Galaxy S24 series models.

Here’s more about it.

New One UI 7 Build for Galaxy S24 Series Updated on Server – ‘BYA6’

As per what has been shared, from the ‘BYA4’ build, the brand’s official server has been updated with the ‘BYA6’ One UI 7 build for the Galaxy S24 series. Its build version is mentioned to be ‘S928NKSU4BYA6/ S928NOKR4BYA6/ S928NKSU4BYA6’.

Speaking more, it has already been revealed that there will be one more beta update (One UI 7 beta 4 update) for the Galaxy S24 series before the official version gets rolled out, and it will be announced or informed to users via the Samsung Members app.

Also, according to what was revealed officially in a press release, Samsung plans to polish its One UI 7 custom skin with the feedback received via the beta program, and the official version is thus expected to be only made available from the end of February 2025, or in March 2025, if everything turns out right. To add, it will be first rolled out to the Galaxy S series flagship models, and later to the other series devices.

Stay tuned for more tech updates.

The South Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, very recently launched its Galaxy S25 series flagship smartphone models globally and three of the latest devices are currently available for pre-booking. Along with these three, a fourth expected smartphone was also showcased by the brand at the launch event, featuring a thin form factor design. Now, the expected key specs of this smartphone have been tipped online.

Read more about it below.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – Tipped Key Specs

As per this new update received via WHYLAB, the Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, the brand’s thin form factor device of the Galaxy S25 series (which was initially said to be called ‘Galaxy S25 Slim’), is tipped to have specs such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip (overclocked version with 4.47 GHz primary clock speed), 6.7″ straight display screen, 3900 mAh battery backup, 200MP (main) + 50MP (ultra-wide) dual camera unit, and 6.4 mm thickness.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge - Expected Specs Tipped

Speaking more, based on the device that was showcased at the event, the Galaxy S25 Edge obviously has a very thin design and in one way or the other shares some similarities with the Galaxy S25+ model, but with quite evident differences. The main difference and what makes the device stand out from the other already-launched Galaxy S25 series models apart from the thin design is the camera module. The Galaxy S25 Edge has a slightly projected pill-shaped unit which houses two even more projected camera sensors and an LED flashlight. Also, as per rumors, Samsung could make this Galaxy S25 Edge model available to customers in the month of May 2025.

Just to add, the ‘Edge’ naming in the moniker is surely to portray the thin design of the smartphone, however, it also marks the brand’s return to using ‘Edge’ in its smartphone monikers and notably the 2016-released Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was the last to launch with it.

More updates concerning the latest Galaxy S25 Edge device are likely to be shared in the coming days, which will probably shed more light on its specs, features, and launch date. Stay tuned until then.

The South Korean consumer electronics maker, Samsung, will be conducting its Galaxy Unpacked event today on the 22nd of January 2025, and many of its latest products are going to be unveiled at the grand ceremony. Among the much-awaited products is the next Galaxy S25 series flagship models and just a few hours ahead of their global launch, the live images of three new devices of the series have been revealed online.

Here’s more about it.

Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra – Revealed Live Images

Unlike previous years, at this year’s first Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung is believed to unveil four new Galaxy S25 series models for its consumers and it is the live images of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones that have been revealed.

We have already come across the design images of all these three models in the past, and the live images align with it. We can spot key design aspects such as the flat display/rear/side panels, thin symmetrical bezels, centrally-aligned punch-hole selfie camera, Galaxy Z Fold 6-like camera rings, and rounded corners even for the Galaxy S25 Ultra model too.

It also seems that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models are featured in the ‘Silver Shadow’ color, whereas the Galaxy S25 Ultra can be seen possibly in the Titanium Black and Titanium Gray colors. The Galaxy S25 smartphone Blue color variant has also been shared, along with the packaging boxes of the three devices.

Last week the Chinese brand Xiaomi made its way into the South Korean market as it unveiled a few flagship smartphones- Xiaomi 14T and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. It is also revealed that Xiaomi plans to release more products like TVs, wearable devices, and robotic vacuum cleaners by next month in South Korea.

With the entry of Chinese brand Xiaomi in the South Korean market, domestic company Samsung seems to be on alert as a Korean publication (via) has revealed as per industry sources, Samsung Electronics has been paying a lot of attention to Xiaomi’s trends internally. Some within Samsung suggest that it is necessary to visit the offline store once it opens to check out the atmosphere.

This information hints that Samsung could be in an discomfort situation as Xiaomi is already known for its low price policy and even with lower prices the devices do not lack specifications or performance. For example, the recently unveiled Xiaomi 14T 12/256GB model is priced at 599,800 won and the 12/512GB model is priced at 649,800 won. This is only half of what other brands offer in the market and the device boosts features like Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 6.67-inch AMOLED display, and AI features.

Wel,l it will be slightly difficult for Xiaomi to set foot in South Korea as consumer loyalty to brands like Apple and Samsung is high in the market but as per an industry insider since many people use multiple smartphones for work, out of curiosity there may be demand for Xiaomi products. Also, it depends on how quickly Xiaomi secures its after-sales service network.

The appearance of Xiaomi in South Korea is expected to bring a shift among consumers. The company has already set the launch of Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G on 22nd January in South Korea, the same day on which Samsung will host the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.
