Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge - Feature Image

Samsung just announced its latest flagship S25 series, both in India and globally. While everyone had their eyes on whether Samsung would launch the S25 Slim at the Galaxy Unpacked January 2025 Event, no one imagined that there wouldn’t be a Slim model but rather an Edge model. Samsung showcased the S25 Edge, which essentially replaces the Slim model, during the event.

Those who saw the images floating all over the internet were quite surprised, as the design was nothing like what OnLeaks had shared in his leak. Even the name turned out to be different. But that’s not all, Samsung’s addition of the Edge variant to its S25 series introduces a design that differs from the rest of the smartphones in the lineup.

When I first saw the image of it, I felt like I had seen it somewhere before. And then it hit me, it looks strikingly similar to the Oppo K12x (China), AKA the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. If you look at the comparison below, the Galaxy S25 Edge is on the left, and the Nord CE 4 Lite is on the right. While the S25 Edge has a single flash, the Nord CE 4 Lite features a dual-flash setup. Both smartphones sport a rear dual-camera layout neatly placed in a pill-shaped deco.

The silver colour of the S25 Edge also seems reminiscent of the Nord CE 4 Lite. Although Samsung briefly showcased the device at the Unpacked event, not much detail was revealed. However, an earlier Geekbench listing revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset would power it. Interestingly, that listing showed the device’s underpowered multicore performance for some reason.
It’s worth noting that the “Edge” naming in the moniker is likely intended to highlight the smartphone’s slim design. Additionally, it marks the brand’s return to using “Edge” in its product names—the last being the 2016-released Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

As of now, Samsung has not revealed further details, such as the launch date or full specifications. But an earlier leak had revealed it may launch in May of this year. Additionally, WHYLAB shared some key specs of this smartphone: a 6.7″ straight display screen, a 3900 mAh battery backup, a 200MP (main) + 50MP (ultra-wide) dual-camera unit, and 6.4 mm thickness.

I know some may not like this comparison, So, who else agrees with me that it looks like the Nord CE 4 Lite?

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite

OnePlus has finally launched the Nord CE 4 sibling in the Indian and global markets today, called the Nord CE 4 Lite. While some predicted it would come with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and others preferred the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, the first live image leak convinced me it would be a rebrand of the Oppo K12x, which was launched in China. Shortly after, we spotted it on the Geekbench database with the same Snapdragon 695 SoC, further supporting this belief. Confirming our report, OnePlus has indeed launched it with the Snapdragon 695 SoC.

I will discuss it in more detail below.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite

The Nord CE 4 Lite features a 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED display offering a peak brightness of 2100 nits and includes the Aqua Touch feature, which allows you to use the touchscreen even when the surface is wet. It also offers IP54 dust and water resistance. Powered by the Snapdragon 695 and paired with the Adreno 619 GPU, it comes with LPDDR4x RAM and 8GB of virtual RAM, with UFS 2.2 storage that can be extended up to 2TB with a microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android OS 14 with ColorOS 14.0 on top, and you will receive two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security patch updates.

The design includes a flat back with a pill-shaped camera module housing two cameras: a 50MP Sony LYT-600 OIS main camera and a 2MP depth sensor with dual LED flash. The front selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.

There is a slight difference in battery capacity between the global and Indian variants. The Indian version comes with a 5,500 mAh battery, while the global variant has a reduced battery size of 5,110 mAh. However, both variants support 80W fast charging and 5W wired reverse charging.

For better audio, the Nord CE 4 Lite has dual speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack. OnePlus has also kept the weight of this smartphone under 200 grams, weighing approximately 191 grams.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite launch date

Update on 19th June 2024: In an interview with Tom’s Guide, the device was reported to have a 5,110 mAh battery. However, the Amazon India listing now reveals it to come with a 5,500 mAh battery. It seems likely that the author of Tom’s Guide made an error.

rest of the story continues below:

So all the fuss created for June 18th was just for the announcement of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite launch date reveal. The launch date is set for June 24th in India and globally. Its Amazon India page is already up, revealing the design and the main rear camera sensor.

But before I discuss the leaks from earlier days, let me talk about what has been confirmed today. It is confirmed to come with a 120Hz OLED display with Aqua Touch technology(The same we saw in the OnePlus 12) and will offer a peak brightness of 2100 nits. The battery size has been officially revealed to be 5,110 mAh with 80W fast charging support. Additionally, 5W reverse wired charging support has been added. This has been confirmed by OnePlus President and COO, Kinder Liu, in an interview with Tom’s Guide.

The Amazon listing, on the other hand, revealed the design, which resembles the Oppo K12x from China. However, the rear has a pill-shaped camera module, housing two cameras and two LED flashes with a 50MP ASPH marking. The main rear camera is confirmed to have a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor with OIS. So far, this is all that has been officially revealed by OnePlus.

Now, the unofficial details that have been circulating about this smartphone. Recently, it was spotted on the Geekbench database, which suggests it might be powered by the Snapdragon 695 SoC, just like the Oppo K12x. However, it could also be the newly launched Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, which is essentially a clocked version of the Snapdragon 695. But nothing can be said for sure, because the Oppo K12x didn’t come with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) and the new teaser of the Nord CE 4 Lite suggests otherwise.

In a previous leak, it was also revealed to come in a silver colour option, and today’s teaser has revealed a blue or aqua blue colour variant as well. It is expected to fall under the ₹20,000 bracket, which was recently revealed by a tipster.

OnePlus India has recently teased the launch of a new smartphone in India on June 18th at 7 PM. The smartphone’s moniker has not been confirmed in the poster though “n” highlighted in the “Entertainment” hints that the upcoming phone is going to be from the Nord series. It has also been spotted on the Geekbench, Bluetooth SIG, and Eurofins, which revealed a battery capacity of 5,500 mAh and suggested it may ship with 80W fast charging.

OnePlus Nord CE 4, OPPO K12, and OnePlus Ace 3V to Share Almost the Same Design

OnePlus has two new smartphones coming up under its Nord series: the Nord 4 and the Nord CE 4 Lite. Recently, we spotted the Nord CE 4 Lite along with the model number “CPH2619” on the Bluetooth SIG. Although the moniker wasn’t present for the CPH2619, it is speculated to be the Nord 4. Now, the Nord CE 4 Lite has passed another telecom authority, NBTC, indicating its imminent launch.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite NBTC

This smartphone has been listed on the NBTC with the model number “CPH2621” and the moniker OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. If you notice a spelling mistake, it’s not “OneOlus Nord CE 4 Lite” but “OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite.” The listing shows the certificate number “B38364-24”; however, the date of issue is missing. Additionally, it shows “Cellular Mobile (GSM/WCDMA/LTE/NR)” under telecommunication equipment.

While this certification has limited data regarding its specifications, a recent listing on Bluetooth SIG revealed that it will have Bluetooth Version 5.3. Additionally, a recent Geekbench listing of the CPH2621 showcased that it would be powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. However, this was later debunked, as the Nord CE 4 came with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, making it unlikely for an inferior model to have a better chipset. Some rumors suggest it may instead be powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC.

It is also rumored to come with a 6.67″ FHD+ AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a triple rear camera setup with 50MP, 2MP, and 16MP sensors, and will run Android 14 out of the box. The tipster who predicted the chipset also mentioned that the smartphone would receive 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security patch updates.

Earlier, IMDA certification revealed that it would have NFC support, while Eurofins certification showed a battery size of 5,500 mAh paired with 80W fast charging.

It is expected to come under a price range of ₹20,000.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is bound to make its appearance soon. It has been spotted earlier with the model number “CPH2621” on TDRA, IMDA, and Eurofins, which revealed the moniker and its battery specs. Now, it has again been spotted on the Malaysian telecom authority SIRIM.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G SIRIM

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G has been spotted on the SIRIM certification with the model number “CPH261”. It is listed with the Approval Code “RGQL/89G/0524/S(24-1903)” and was approved on May 24, 2024. Apart from the moniker and model number, the listing does not provide any further details regarding its specs but does indicate an imminent launch in Malaysia.

From the IMDA certification, it is known that this smartphone will support NFC. Additionally, the Eurofins certification reveals it to have a battery size of 5,500 mAh paired with 80W fast charging capabilities.

Most of the specs, including the processor, are still unknown. However, an earlier tipster suggested that this smartphone may come with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, a claim later supported by another tipster, Sanju. Sanju also mentioned that the device will be priced under Rs 20,000 in the Indian market. He added that it will feature a 6.67″ FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 50MP+2MP+16MP triple rear camera setup, and will run Android 14 out of the box. According to him, OnePlus will offer 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security patch updates.

Recently, Sanju found a model number “CPH2619” on the BIS certification, which he claimed to be the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. However, this model number turned out to be wrong, but I am hopeful that the specs shared by him might turn out to be true.

While these leaks provide a glimpse into the potential features of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite, it’s always best to take such information with a grain of salt. Since the smartphone has been spotted on multiple certifications, it is likely to be launched soon.
